Victor Anichebe has criticised Everton for their parting message to Richarlison after the Brazilian completed a move to Tottenham – with a fee believed to be £50million up front, and a further £10million in add-ons.
Richarlison, 25, enjoyed a stunning campaign on a personal level last season – having a hand in 15 goals during 30 Premier League appearances. That is, despite changes in management and Everton finishing in 16th place.
Tottenham announced the signing of Richarlison on Friday morning, with a medical believed to have been passed in his native Brazil. The ex-Watford striker has penned a contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2027.
Everton also posted a statement on Richarlison’s departure, a simple 86-word post on the club’s website. On Instagram, it was even less – just 20 words. Anichebe criticised his old club for such a blunt announcement.

Anichebe has criticised Everton for parting message to Richarlison
Richarlison has been a fan favourite at Everton. A player with untold amounts of passion, aggression and tenacity. Even on social media, the Brazilian is often teasing Liverpool fans and interacting with supporters.
A player that shows his quality both on and off the pitch. Everton have had to sell in order to comply with Financial Fairplay concerns. It has allowed Tottenham to steal in, and nab Everton’s no.7.
But the statement is indeed, blunt. Anichebe is right to criticise his old club for their lack of compassion towards Richarlison – given the player’s form and fan favourite status. Now, he will be in the Champions League with Spurs.
