Everton’s manager David Moyes speaks to Victor Anichebe during the game
New Sunderland signing Victor Anichebe has told the club’s official website that he is confident David Moyes can get the best out of him.
The striker joined the Black Cats on a free transfer on Friday as they continued to add to their squad after the close of the summer transfer window.
The move sees him reuniting with former manager David Moyes, who took charge at the Stadium of Light earlier this summer.
The two have a positive working relationship, having worked together at Everton previously when Moyes helped to develop him when he was a youngster at the club.
And Anichebe says he is confident the Scot can get the best out of him this season.
“He brought me through as a young player and was a big factor in me coming here,” he told the club’s official website.
“I had a few options in England and Europe but the manager was a huge pull for me. He knows me inside out and I feel like he can get the best out of me.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Moyes can get the best out of Anichebe this season.
It is fair to say his goalscoring record is not the greatest but he can be a great asset on his day, as he proved on occasion during their time together at Everton.
So long as Jermain Defoe remains fit he is unlikely to see a lot of first-team starts, but the fact he offers something entirely different to the veteran forward is likely to see him utilised often.
