Leeds United Managing Director Angus Kinnear has told BBC Radio Leeds that the club will do business in the January transfer window only if they think that the new players can strengthen the team significantly.

The West Yorkshire outfit were quite busy in the summer transfer window and signed a number of players.

Among the players that the Whites recruited in the summer of 2017 were midfielder Mateusz Klich, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and attacking midfielder Samuel Saiz.

Club tend to strengthen their squads in the January transfer and bring more players in in order to meet their season’s objectives.

The Whites are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season, and the Elland Road faithful will hope that the team maintain their challenge until the very end.

Leeds Managing Director Kinnear has said that the Whites will make signings in the January transfer window only if they think that the players will improve the current squad.

“The process around strengthening the team is not really focused on any particular window,” Kinnear told BBC Radio Leeds when asked about Leeds’s January transfer plan.

“Everything is looked at across the long term, so the recruitment team that Victor has built, I think is world class. It is a world-class capability.”

“But the mantra is always very clear – we are only going to do business in both the summer and the January window if we really feel it can strengthen the squad significantly,” added Kinnear.
