Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Angus Kinnear has claimed that Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips has proven himself to be a world-class player this season.
The midfielder has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, and despite the fact he’d never played top-flight football before this season, he’s looked like one of the best midfieldlers in the division.
Kinnear says that Phillips has now made it abundantly clear to everyone that he’s a world-class talent.
“We have our core of players that people have spoken about with Stuart, Liam, Luke and Kalvin, who has proven himself to be a world-class player and I think will do that at the Euros. All the fans should remember that we have a strong base of the team that can grow, and we will be seeking to strengthen it,” Kinnear said.

This is a big claim from Kinnear.
Is Phillips a world-class talent? It’s certainly up for debate, and it depends on your definition of the word.
Can a player really be considered world-class after one season of top-flight football? In our view the answer is no, but that isn’t to say that Phillips isn’t incredibly talented. After all, he’s a bona fide England international these days.
Fingers crossed Phillips can continue to improve and show the rest of the league just how talented he is.
