Leeds United are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear has suggested on BBC Radio Leeds that fans of the club have not realised just how much the players have had to change in order to be a success under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa was appointed the Leeds head coach in the summer of 2018, and the West Yorkshire outfit have been superb so far this season.

The Whites are genuine contenders for automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

Leeds have signed players, but most of the team are the same from last season.

Bielsa has improved the Leeds players, and the club’s chief executive Kinnear has praised them for accepting the way the head coach works.

Kinnear said on BBC Radio Leeds: “The team, the squad have been phenomenal. I don’t think supporters realise the amount of change they have had to accept.

“I think there are lesser squads of players who would have rejected Marcelo’s technique, rejected the demands that he has made of them, but the squad to a man have just unified, and they have changed the way they work, they have changed the way they play, they have changed the way they prepare for matches.”

Promotion challenge

Leeds won against Swansea City at Elland Road in the Championship this past Wednesday, but their recent results and performances have not been great.

Inconsistency has affected the Whites in recent weeks, and the players need to step up and put together a run of positive results.

Leeds are third in the Championship table at the moment with 61 points from 32 matches, just two points behind leaders Norwich City with a game in hand.
