Managing Director Angus Kinnear envisages great things for Leeds United.
Leeds United’s new Managing Director Angus Kinnear has told TV Yorkshire that it feels like the club is on the brink “of something really quite special”.
The Whites have welcomed four new players to the club already this summer – Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes, Felix Wiedwald and Vurnon Anita – and wrapped up the permanent signings of Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson, who were at Elland Road on loan last term.
There has also been major changes in the dugout and the boardroom, with new owner Andrea Radrizzani hiring Director of Football Victor Orta – who spent time at Middlesbrough – and he appointed Thomas Christiansen to replace manager Garry Monk.
Things certainly seem on the up for Leeds, who finished seventh in the Championship last season after it looked certain that Monk’s side would at least get a playoff spot.
And speaking to TV Yorkshire, Kinnear, who has only been in the role for three weeks, believes that the club is looking very healthy at the moment.
“It feels like we’re on the verge of something really quite special. Pre-season is already underway. Fans are getting excited and we’re looking forward to the first game.
“We’re achieving a lot and building the foundations. And when we have the foundations in place I believe there’s great things at the end of the road.”
Anita, who spent five years at Newcastle United before his release this month, is the latest addition to the playing staff following his arrival on a three-year deal this week.
The Netherlands international helped Newcastle to Premier League promotion last season, and Kinnear added that the 28-year-old can add value.
He said: “It was a hard days work. We did it just in time and it was great to unveil him in front of the fans.
“I think he’s a player who has proven in this league that he can add a lot of value.”
