Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered only their second defeat of the season on Tuesday night, but the manner of the loss has understandably left their fans deeply concerned for their promotion chances this term.
Barnsley had been flying high before the game at Molineux – Paul Heckingbottom’s men had gone into the fixture third in the table – but the home supporters would have still been forgiven for backing their team to bring the newly-promoted side back down to earth.

However, Walter Zenga’s men were unable to find a way past the Tykes’ defence and the game appeared to be heading for a stalemate as the contest entered the final 20 minutes without a goal being scored.
But Barnsley had other ideas.

Goals from Conor Hourihane, Adam Hammill, Saidy Janko and Tom Bradshaw handed the away side an emphatic 4-0 win and sent Wolves tumbling into the bottom-half of the table.
While it is still very early in the campaign, supporters would be forgiven for being worried about what lies ahead for them. They have only scored eight goals in seven league fixtures, and face the three teams that were relegated from Premier League last season in their next five, including a Newcastle side that beat Queens Park Rangers 6-0 on Tuesday.

After the game, fans expressed their frustrations on Twitter, with some even questioning whether Zenga is the right man to take them forward.
