Ange Postecoglou says 26-year-old perfect for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has raved about Spurs attacking midfielder James Maddison.

Ange Postecoglou has said on talkSPORT (11:42am, September 12, 2023) that James Maddison and Tottenham Hotspur are “perfect” for each other.

Tottenham signed Maddison from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

Postecoglou was appointed the Tottenham boss in the summer of 2023 following his departure from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

And he has been hugely impressed with 26-year-old England international playmaker Maddison.

Postecoglou said about Maddison: “We saw James pretty early on in the piece – there was competition from other clubs for him and the club backed me early on to bring him in.

“I think what you’ve seen so far is we’re going to play with outstanding ability, but James is also somebody who is very, very driven to bring success this football club.

“When you get both, you know, sometimes you get players at different stages their careers, but for James and the club I think it’s perfect timing, because he’s coming here to make an impact, not just for himself individually, but he wants to make an impact for this football club.”

James Maddison has been a superb signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old has hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is already a key player in the Spurs first team.

The England international playmaker has scored two goals and given two assists in four Premier League appearances so far this season.

Maddison has made 167 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The attacking midfielder has scored 45 goals and given 34 assists.

Now, of course, it is still early days for Maddison at Spurs.

We have to wait and see if Maddison maintains this high level in the coming weeks and months.

For now, Spurs fans can be hugely optimistic and confident about a successful season.

Tottenham’s main objective this season has to be to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.
