Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou believes that he won’t be making any signings as transfer deadline day looms.
Tottenham picked up another Premier League win on Wednesday night but were made to work hard for it.
Brentford took the lead in North London with Neal Maupay opening the scoring before Spurs went goal crazy in eight second-half minutes.
Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison all found the net to put Spurs 3-1 up before Ivan Toney gave Brentford hope.
Spurs had to hold on and they did so, picking up a fifth Premier League in the last seven games.
Ange Postecoglou comments on Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day hopes
The attention now turns to the transfer deadline.
Spurs have secured two signings this month with Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner arriving to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Fans may still be hoping for more reinforcements before the deadline but Postecoglou doesn’t sound too hopeful.
Speaking to Football London, Postecoglou noted that he felt signings were ‘unlikely’ on Tuesday and feels that additions are even less likely now.
“No, as I said yesterday unlikely and I guess less likely than yesterday,” said Postecoglou.
Tottenham may be chasing one signing though with Fabrizio Romano suggesting that Spurs want to land Djurgardens midfielder Lucas Bergvall.
Romano claims that Tottenham keep calling Bergvall’s representatives in an effort to convince him into rejecting Barcelona and picking Spurs.
HITC Football understands that Barcelona are in the box seat to land Bergvall, who has also been tracked by Arsenal.
The 17-year-old has emerged as a real wonderkid and already has his first cap for Sweden having shown huge potential.
Bergvall certainly fits the mould for Tottenham as a top young player with Spurs seemingly focusing on adding quality for the future.
Postecoglou seemingly isn’t feeling too positive about such a deal materialising though, leaving Spurs fans to expect a fairly quiet deadline day.
