Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been named in Ange Postecoglou’s Premier League squad despite his expected exile.
Hugo Lloris may yet have a chance to save his Tottenham Hotspur career after being named in their Premier League squad.
Premier League clubs are naming their 25-man squads today ahead of the official cut-off point.
Some players left out by their clubs may face a difficult few months, potentially frozen out until the January transfer window.
That was expected for Lloris after failing to secure a move away from Tottenham before the transfer deadline.
Links to clubs in Italy, France and Saudi Arabia amounted to nothing with Lloris not part of the Spurs squad following the signing of Guglielmo Vicario.

Hugo Lloris named in Tottenham Hotspur squad
Spurs have now announced their squad with Lloris named as part of the non-home-grown list.
This feels like a surprise decision given that boss Ange Postecoglou indicated earlier this month that he didn’t want three goalkeepers in his squad.
Postecoglou stated that Lloris was well aware that he would be left out of the squad if he didn’t secure a move elsewhere.
However, Postecoglou has now pulled a U-turn by including Lloris in his squad after all.
We would still expect the Frenchman to be well behind Vicario and Fraser Forster in the goalkeeping pecking order.

Newcastle United missed out on Lloris
Lloris was Tottenham club captain last season but now finds himself unwanted in North London.
This summer felt like the right time for Lloris to move on but the 36-year-old inexplicably remains at Tottenham.
There was even Premier League interest; The Times reported that Lloris turned down a deadline day move to Newcastle United.
The Magpies seemingly wanted competition for Nick Pope and saw Lloris as a potential signing.
Lloris didn’t fancy that move and it’s unclear just what he’s looking for in his next club with Tottenham no doubt wishing he had moved on.
