Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has praised his side for an ‘outstanding’ performance against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
Ange Postecoglou believes Tottenham Hotspur’s football was as good as it has been all season despite losing to Aston Villa.
Postecoglou was forced into a very unfamiliar Spurs lineup with a number of key players missing out through injury or suspension.
Tottenham did take the lead through Giovani Lo Celso’s deflected strike, only for Pau Torres to level it up for Villa.
Ollie Watkins ended up finding the winner for Villa, firing home to condemn Spurs to a third straight defeat.

Spurs fans will have very mixed feelings after this result.
The performance was impressive; Tottenham played some superb attacking football and created chances at will in the first half.
Spurs couldn’t take them though and they eventually ran out of steam with few options to change the game from the bench.
Three defeats in a row after such a strong start is a big disappointment but boss Postecoglou doesn’t sound too downbeat.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Postecoglou suggested that his Spurs players were ‘outstanding’ against Villa.
Postecoglou praised Tottenham’s football, suggesting that the style on show was ‘as good as it’s been all season’ whilst feeling that Spurs deserved more from the game.
“I’m disappointed for the fans and the players because their play was outstanding today. The football we played was as good as it’s been all season,” said Postecoglou. “All you can ask for is that the guys give their all so there’s no frustration, just disappointment that they didn’t get what they deserved,” he added.

It doesn’t get any easier for Postecoglou and Spurs; next up is Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Spurs are decimated at the moment with James Maddison, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic all missing against Villa.
Bissouma will be back from suspension but at least four of those players won’t be seen again in 2023.
This makes it difficult for Postecoglou to pick a settled team and to change the game from the bench as his squad takes blow after blow.
Spurs fans just have to stick with the team through this tricky run; Postecoglou’s men played some brilliant stuff against Villa and it’s clear to see the Australian’s vision.
It’s clear that Postecoglou isn’t panicking right now and Tottenham fans shouldn’t either, even if tasting defeat hurts any supporter.
