Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has praised midfielder Oliver Skipp after his brace against Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
Oliver Skipp bagged two goals for Tottenham Hotspur against Barcelona and has now been praised by Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs played their final pre-season game on Tuesday evening, travelling to take on Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
When Robert Lewandowski fired Barcelona ahead inside three minutes, you would have forgiven Spurs fans for fearing the worst.
Yet this rotated Tottenham side turned the game on its head as Skipp scored twice to put Spurs 2-1 up by half time.
Tottenham did fold in the end though as Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Abde Ezzalzouli struck to give Barcelona a 4-2 victory.
Considering that this was pretty much a full-strength Barcelona side against a Tottenham second string, this was a decent performance.
We can see plenty of Ange Postecoglou’s ideas shining through and now it’s onto the Premier League this weekend.

Ange Postecoglou hails Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp
One man who may have put himself firmly in contention to face Brentford this weekend is midfielder Oliver Skipp.
The 22-year-old isn’t really known for his goalscoring talents but showed them against Barcelona with a first-half brace.
There are places up for grabs in the Tottenham midfield and Skipp is making himself hard to ignore.
Skipp impressed new boss Ange Postecoglou by throwing himself into Tottenham’s pre-season plans even after playing at the Under-21 European Championships this summer.

Skipp’s performances are catching the eye too with Postecoglou offering him high praise.
Speaking to Football London, Postecoglou suggested that Skipp was ‘outstanding’ against Barcelona and has been all summer.
Postecoglou feels that Skipp’s intensity on and off the ball makes him a nightmare for opponents and praised his character for playing through a ‘significant’ knock against Barcelona.
“He has been outstanding,” said Postecoglou. “Obviously he didn’t have much of a break but since he’s been in he’s got bags of energy and he uses that really well.”
“He maintains an intensity with and without the ball that makes him hard to contend with. He was outstanding tonight. He got a significant knock early but battled through it and that shows the character of him,” he added.
