Tom Rogic could be a big player for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers.
Australia coach Ange Postecoglou has revealed to ESPN that he is unsurprised to see midfielder Tom Rogic excelling under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.
The 23-year-old scored twice in a 5-0 League Cup demolition of Motherwell last week for what remains his only start under Brendan Rodgers in Glasgow so far.
The Austrlian, who made just 15 first-team appearances for Celtic before last season due to an injury-ridden two years with the Hoops, found himself linked with Arsenal this summer after playing 27 Premiership outings last term under Ronny Deila.
There is plenty of talent there and former Liverpool boss Rodgers signed him up to a three-year extension until 2019 a little earlier this month.
“He’s been super,” he told ESPN. “I think the way Brendan plays will suit him and it doesn’t surprise me that Brendan Rodgers rates him very highly.”
Celtic host Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva at Parkhead tonight in a huge first-leg Champions League playoff and Rogic could be in contention to start.
It is truly a massive clash for the Hoops and victory, preferably without conceding, is a must for Rodgers and co.
Celtic don’t want to be travelling to Israel knowing that they are underdogs to reach the group stages, which the Scottish champions have been absent from since 2013.
