Steve Nicol says Carlo Ancelotti would be a ‘great manager for anybody’, including Liverpool after it was suggested that the Real Madrid boss would be the ‘right fit’ for those on Merseyside, as he told ESPN.

The Anfield legend added that there’s ‘not even a doubt’ about the credibility of the former Everton boss, who left his post at Goodison Park during the summer of 2021 in order to return to Madrid.

The 63-year-old’s return saw him win the LA Liga title, as well as beating Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Champions League final last season, with Vinicius Jr scoring the only goal of the game in Paris.

Well, both Klopp and Ancelotti, under pressure at their respective jobs, will be meeting again on February 21 during their round of 16 Champions League tie.

There is talk in Spain that Ancelotti could leave the club given Madrid’s indifferent form, they are eight points behind Xavi’s Barcelona in La Liga, which doesn’t help matters.

Nonetheless, when Nicol was told about Ancelotti possibly facing the sack and whether he would be the ‘right fit’ for the Reds, he issued the following response.

“Let me tell you, Ancelotti would be a great manager for anybody, including Liverpool,” said Nicol. “So, that’s not even a doubt.”

LIVERPOOL V REAL MADRID

Both teams need a confidence booster and their upcoming tie might just provide them with that much-needed lift that they haven’t had this season.

Those on Merseyside are in a much worse situation because, not only are they in danger of missing out on Champions League football for next season, but Europe altogether.

It could be argued that Liverpool needs this win the most, but either way, the futures of both managers shouldn’t really be in question given what they have done for their respective clubs.
