Rangers opened their 2019/20 Scottish Premiership campaign with a win.

Andy Walker was left unimpressed with the quality of delivery from Borna Barisic during Rangers’ 2-1 win at Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.
Steven Gerrard’s side left it late to beat Killie at Rugby Park, with Conor Goldson heading home in the final minutes to help his team secure an opening day three points.
Despite a couple of defensive mistakes, it was a strong performance from the Gers with Barisic playing at left-back for Gerrard’s side and producing an indifferent performance.
Speaking during commentary on Sky Sports Football (04/08/2019), Walker reacted to a ‘weak’ cross from Barisic late on in the game as he failed to be a threat in that final third.
“Awful from Barisic,” Walker said on Sky Sports. “You wanted pace on the ball. When you have options in the box, give them something to go and attack. That was weak.”

It could be argued that last season, Gerrard’s side would have dropped points and not scored that late winner, so that is an early positive.
The most important thing for the Gers is that they have got all three points as they will now be focusing their attention on Europe.
A strong performance over two legs would see the Gers secure their passage through to the group stages of Europa League as they have a tough encounter against Hibernian sandwiched in between.
