Celtic are going through a tough patch under Brendan Rodgers.

Scott Sinclair of Celtic looks dejected following the UEFA Champions League Qualifier between Celtic and AEK Athens at Celtic Park Stadium on August 8, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Pundit Andy Walker has told Sky Sports that he thinks winger Scott Sinclair doesn’t look interested in playing for Celtic as the Bhoys struggle.

Celtic lost 2-1 to Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon, as having led 1-0 through Leigh Griffiths, Chris Burke and Stuart Findlay struck to give Killie the win at Rugby Park.

That defeat has compounded a difficult time for Celtic, which has virtually stretched since the end of last season all the way up to now.

Celtic endured a difficult summer transfer window, missing out on targets like John McGinn and Scott McKenna before selling striker Moussa Dembele to Lyon, leaving Brendan Rodgers furstrated.

On the pitch, Celtic crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers at the hands of AEK Athens, were unconvincing against Suduva in the Europa League qualifiers, and only narrowly beat Rosenborg on Thursday.

With two defeats in six league games already this season, Celtic are struggling to hit top form, and not only are they giving Rangers fans hope of a title race, but they now actually sit behind the Gers in the league table.

Now, former Celtic ace and current pundit Andy Walker has offered his view, telling Sky Sports that he thinks it’s difficult for Rodgers when Scott Sinclair – a favourite of Rodgers having worked together at Chelsea and Swansea City – doesn’t look interested in playing for Celtic.

Sinclair has really struggled over the last year having initially starred for Celtic, and Walker feels that with Sinclair unable to give service to Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard in the final third, Celtic’s defence is under more pressure.

“Brendan Rodgers is looking for a combination and chemistry from middle to front, that where Celtic’s biggest problems have been,” said Walker. “They’re not scoring enough goals, they’re not threatening to score goals and when you have players like Scott Sinclair, who doesn’t really look interested, not taking players on, Celtic fail to find any sort of penetration in behind and good crosses into the box.

“When you’ve got Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard, players up front are not really getting the service they have had in previous years and that’s where the big problem is as it puts pressure on the defence. Up until yesterday, Celtic were defensively sound but were found out by a really decent Kilmarnock side,” he added.
