Rangers won their second Old Firm derby of the season when they beat Celtic on Sunday.
Andy Walker is adamant that Rangers defender Jon Flanagan should have been sent off after his side beat Celtic 2-0 at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
During the second half, whilst Celtic had a corner, Flanagan appeared to elbow Scott Brown in the face with the referee stopping play and showing the Gers man a yellow card.
Speaking during his commentary stint for Sky Sports Football (12/05/2019), Walker made it clear that Flanagan’s actions should have resulted in his team being reduced to 10 men.
“He just gives him a bit of a forearm there to Scott Brown,” Walker told Sky Sports Football. “Look at Brown here and Flanagan then there’s a bit of a forearm. It could easily have been red.
“We talk about discipline. And that forearm into the neck, into the face of Brown, you can see the referee, he has a good view of it, but you don’t know what he’s looking at. But if he’s giving him a yellow, you can only assume that he’s seen it.
“I don’t think he’s noticed the severity of it. I think it’s a red.”
In the game itself, Steven Gerrard’s side picked up all three points to end the Scottish Premiership season on a high from their perspective.
They have beaten their Old Firm rivals in back-to-back games at Ibrox and will be hoping to add consistency to their game next term as they bid for Scottish Premiership glory.
Despite the bragging rights going to the Light Blues, Celtic will point towards the Scottish Premiership and winning eight-in-a-row.
