Andy Walker has been left perplexed after Kyle Lafferty compared Rangers winger Ryan Kent to Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard.

On Monday, Rangers secured the permanent signature of Kent from Liverpool and Lafferty then claimed that he has the capabilities of being better than Hazard, as quoted by The Daily Record.

The Ibrox supporters will be well aware of what Kent is capable of following his performances at the club last season and they will now get to see it on a permanent basis.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (03/09/2019 at 11:15 am), former Celtic man Walker shared his thoughts on Kent’s signing as he slammed Lafferty’s comments as ‘ridiculous’.

“I think it’s a significant deal, I don’t think anyone expected Rangers to be involved in business at that level,” Walker told Sky Sports. “But to compare him to Eden Hazard is ridiculous.

“I really enjoyed watching Ryan Kent last season for Rangers. I thought he made a difference. I think it’s given the Scottish Premiership another bit of a lift. When you think Rangers can attract someone of the quality of Ryan Kent, who had some suitors with some big clubs in England, some good clubs on the continent.

“But he has chosen to come to Scotland because he knows it is a really tough environment. And I am sure he will enjoy working under Steven Gerrard. There is still a lot of work for him to do. To be consistent, to get more chances and to get more goals for himself.”

Kent will have time to try and get back up to speed during the international break as Steven Gerrard will be hoping he can lift his squad after their recent Old Firm defeat.

Rangers will host third-placed Livingston on September 14 before they welcome Dutch side Feyenoord for their first Europa League group game of the season.
