Andy Walker says Liam Kelly has improved since Rangers exit

Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers sold Liam Kelly to Livingston in the summer transfer window.

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker has told Sky Sports that Liam Kelly has improved since leaving Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper joined Livingston from Rangers in the summer transfer window.

The Scottish youngster has established himself as an important player for Livingston and will come up against Rangers this weekend.

Gary Holt’s side will take on the Gers at home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Former Celtic striker Walker believes that Kelly has improved since leaving Rangers for Livingston.

Walker told Sky Sports about Kelly: “Never easy to leave a big club but the decision to move away from Rangers to get a game every week has definitely improved his game.”

Good decision?

With Wes Foderingham and Allan McGregor in the current Rangers squad, it was going to be hard for Kelly to establish himself in Gerrard’s team.

The 22-year-old needs playing time at this stage of his playing career, and the youngster is getting exactly that at Livingston.

Rangers, though, are not missing Kelly, as McGregor – signed as a free agent in the summer transfer window – has been superb for the Gers so far this season and is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Gers.
