Former Celtic star Andy Walker has told Sky Sports that he expects Rangers to earn a 2-1 win over Stephen Robinson’s Motherwell at Ibrox on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers will be looking to put a run of two successive defeats behind them after losing to St. Johnstone and Kilmarnock, while Motherwell have suffered five defeats in their last seven games – drawing the other two.

Rangers now sit 14 point adrift of Old Firm rivals Celtic but could reduce the deficit to 11 if they beat an out-of-form Motherwell on home soil, with Celtic already playing on Tuesday night – beating Dundee 2-0.

Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on December 16, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Walker claimed on Sky Sports’ website that Graeme Murty’s side would earn a 2-1 victory against the Well, naming the Gers’ 22-year-old permanent signing Declan John as the club’s danger man.

Rangers have already played against Motherwell this season in the Betfred Cup semi-final, losing 2-0 which saw Louis Moult score two excellent goals including an inch-perfect lob over Jak Alnwick.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson arrives prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Motherwell at Celtic Park on December 2, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

However, the Gers are expected to have Wes Foderingham between the sticks on Wednesday night, while Motherwell have sold Moult down south to Championship club Preston North End.

Three points for the Gers would see them climb into second place, if Aberdeen suffer a shock home defeat to Partick Thistle at Pittodrie.
