Andy Walker praised Rangers winger Daniel Candeias for his performance against Celtic on Sky Sports Football on Sunday afternoon (1:41pm, March 31, 2019).

Candeias featured for Rangers in their Old Firm derby against Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old winger started the match and played for 83 minutes, as Steven Gerrard’s side lost 2-1.

Former Celtic striker Walker was on co-commentary duty on the match for Sky Sports, and he was impressed with the performance produced by the Portuguese winger – joined Rangers from Benfica in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £700,000.

Walker said about Candeias in the 82nd minute of the Old Firm derby on Sky Sports Football on Sunday afternoon (1:41pm, March 31, 2019): “Candeias is another one. You expect of him, working so hard, so much energy.

“He has been back defending, getting on in support of the attack, it has been a really good game from him.”

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd praised Rangers defender James Tavernier for his performance against Celtic.

The 27-year-old former Newcastle United right-back was responsible for the second and winning goal of Celtic, but ex-Rangers striker Boyd praised his overall display.

Boyd said about Tavernier on Sky Sports Football on Sunday afternoon (2:06pm, March 31, 2019): “I know James Tavernier will come in for criticism now because of the slack pass that let Celtic in, but I thought he was excellent, especially in the second half, got forward, created lots of chances for Rangers.”

The defeat to Celtic means that Rangers are now 13 points behind their bitter Old Firm rivals in second place in the Scottish Premiership table.
