Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths has lost his place up front to Moussa Dembele.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Andy Walker has backed Leigh Griffiths to be Celtic’s key player in Wednesday’s trip to Ross County.
The 26-year-old hitman has struggled to displace the red-hot Moussa Dembele in Celtic’s attack for most of this season.
But the Scot has maintained a fine attitude to being benched, and played a big role in Sunday’s League Cup semi-final win over Rangers by setting up Dembele’s late winner.
Griffiths netted 40 goals in all competitions for Celtic last term, which illustrates just how good the young French marksman has been.
And former Bhoys man Walker believes the hitman will play his role in what he believes will be a 3-1 away win for Brendan Rodgers’s side.
He told Sky Sports: “Despite losing his place to Moussa Dembele, Griffiths has shown a great attitude to be ready when the time comes to play again regularly.”
Celtic are four points clear of Aberdeen at the summit of the Scottish Premiership, though the Dons – who host their Glasgow rivals on Saturday – can bridge that gap to one by beating Hamilton tonight, but the Hoops would have two games in hand.
