Rangers defender James Tavernier has been in excellent form for manager Steven Gerrard this season.

Andy Walker believes Rangers defender James Tavernier is ‘committed’ to the club amid speculation about his future, but claimed he is ‘not as important as Morelos’.
The Express claim that Premier League side Southampton are weighing up a move for the Gers star, but manager Steven Gerrard wants £8 million before they can get to the negotiating table.
Right-back Tavernier has played a key part behind Gerrard and his team challenging for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
Former Celtic man Walker commented on Tavernier’s future and whether he will still be at Ibrox when the transfer window shuts on Thursday.
“I think Tavernier seems more committed,” Walker told Sky Sports News on 28/01/2019. “They have already had a bit of interest from West Brom that they have knocked back and he seems committed to Rangers.
“Club captain, he scores a lot of goals, he gets a lot of assists for the club. Another very important player. Maybe not as important as a Morelos, but Tavernier I think will stay.”

Tavernier was part of the Rangers team that outplayed Livingston on Sunday, with Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos all getting on the scoresheet.
Over the course of the season, the Bradford-born defender has played 38 games in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying his teammates with 14 assists, according to transfermarkt.
During his career in England, Tavernier has played for the likes of Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan and Bristol City, but he played in a sporadic fashion for all of those sides.
At this moment in time, Gerrard’s side are sitting second in the Scottish Premiership table, three points behind leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand on their rivals.
