Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is reportedly attracting interest from other clubs as his goalscoring form continues.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers looks on during the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Livingston and Rangers at Tony Macaroni Arena on January 27, 2019 in Livingston, United Kingdom.

Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has interestingly claimed that Rangers could sell Alfredo Morelos for ‘£14m’ because they ‘lost’ that amount of money during the previous financial year.

In previous interviews, Steven Gerrard has insisted that his in-form striker is ‘going nowhere’ and revealed that there has been ‘nothing concrete’ in regards to a potential bid, as quoted by BBC Sport.

The January transfer window is set to slam shut on Thursday with clubs across England and Scotland hoping to conclude last-minute deals.

Former Celtic man Walker made it clear that the Gers cannot sell the 22-year-old if they are to win the Scottish Premiership title this season as he named the price they could potentially sell him for.

“If you sell Morelos, you sell your chances of winning the title,” Walker told Sky Sports. “In the end, it won’t be Steven Gerrard’s decision. If there’s a bid that’s big enough then Rangers as a club will sell.

“No one really knows the financial affairs of Rangers. All you do know is what’s very public – Rangers lost £14m last year, so for £14m I think they’d be very tempted to do business.”

Over the course of the season, Morelos has played 35 games in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and supplying 10 assists for his teammates, according to transfermarkt.

It is in the Scottish Premiership where he has done the most damage, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions from his 20 league games.

As a result of that, Gerrard’s side are sitting in second place, three points behind leaders Celtic, who can extend their lead at the top if they pick up points against St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

Bournemouth loanee Jermain Defoe, who netted on his debut for the club, is another attacking option for Gerrard as is Kyle Lafferty.
