Andy Townsend has praised Wolverhampton Wanderers winger and reported Leeds United target Adama Traore for his performance away to Tottenham on Sunday.

Wolves lost 2-0 in North London but the Leeds-linked dynamo was involved in anything positive that the visitors managed.

In the first half, Traore pretty much single-handedly took on Tottenham and with his speed, ghosted past some home players on quite a few occasions.

According to Eurosport, Leeds will make a summer bid for the £35 million-rated Spain international this winger.

He told Peacock Sports: “If I was Adama Traore I’d be tempted to keep going on my own. When he’s at full flow like that….he’s never 100 percent sure which way he wants to go, but so difficult to stop – almost impossible.”

If Leeds – or anyone else – do sign Traore this summer, it’ll be for a lot less than that figure.

Despite his pace and skill, we’re talking about a player who has only managed two goals and three assists in 35 Premier League games for Wolves this season.

It’s a pretty big decline on four goals and nine assists last season which you could argue isn’t deserving of the £50 million price-tag he had during the summer of 2020.

He’s a fine player on his day and maybe one who could blossom under Marcelo Bielsa, but there’s a hell of a lot of work to do.
