Andy Townsend praised Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins on talkSPORT (5:54pm, February 8, 2021) and said that he is a bit quicker than Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

The former Chelsea and Villa midfielder said that Watkins works hard for Villa and is pleased to see him score goals.

Townsend said on talkSPORT (5:54pm, February 8, 2021): “I think Ollie Watkins is such an honest boy. He is quick, but he is not greased lightning.

“Again, we said that about Harry Kane. I will say Ollie Watkins appears a little bit quicker than Harry Kane, but not, again, not greased lightning, but works so unbelievably hard for the team.”

According to WhoScored, Watkins has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in the league for Villa so far this campaign.

Kane is not the quickest of players, but the striker is an efficient finisher who can also play in a number 10 role, makes intelligent runs and takes up good positions.

Watkins, 25, is playing in his first Premier League season, and so far he is doing well, and Villa fans will hope that he continues to bang in the goals.

Both Tottenham and Villa are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
