Aston Villa will go into next season as one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League.

Andy Townsend has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 26th April, that Aston Villa need to bring in four new signings this summer.
Villa have had a disappointing campaign this time around, after dropping out of the Premier League last season.
The claret and blues were tipped to be among the leading contenders to achieve promotion from the Championship, but the Midlands side have rarely threatened the play off spots.
And Villa now are set to finish in mid-table, during their first season back in the second tier.
Steve Bruce will know that a big improvement will be required next term, if he is to keep his job at Villa Park.

And Townsend has encouraged Bruce not to make wholesale changes in the summer, with slight alterations all that is needed.
“They need to get off to a flying start,” Townsend said. “They don’t need ten going out, and 12 coming in. Maybe three or four.”
Townsend is still convinced that Bruce is the right man for Villa, despite his initial difficulties in the job.

“Honestly, I felt that Bruce was going to be the right man for the job after the Remi Garde disaster,” he added.
“Villa need someone like Brucey. It hasn’t been plain sailing for him, but it needs a period of stability and someone like him. I’m sure next season that they will be far more competitive.”
Villa have two games remaining this season – against Blackburn Rovers and Brighton & Hove Albion.
