Aston Villa got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, November 25, 2016) that Aston Villa will be challenging for a place in the top six of the Championship this season.
Villa are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The Villans are 15th in the league table at the moment with 22 points from 17 matches.
Steve Bruce’s side are five points behind Norwich City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
Former Villa midfielder Townsend believes that Bruce’s team will be aiming for a playoff spot.
“I think that Villa will be there or thereabouts the playoffs, knocking on the edges,” said Townsend on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, November 25, 2016).

Villa’s performances and results have improved under Bruce, who knows the Championship inside out.
The Villans will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Cardiff City at Villa Park in the Championship.
With Cardiff struggling for survival in the division and just above the relegation zone, Villa should be able to pick up all three points from the encounter.
