Andy Robertson was once released by Celtic as a teenager.

Celtic have one of the best young left-backs in Europe at the moment, in the form of Kieran Tierney.
Still only 21, Tierney has helped the Hoops to back-to-back domestic trebles in recent years, and has rubbed shoulders with some of Europe’s finest in the Champions League.
If he ever leaves Celtic, it’ll be for a significant transfer fee – and the Hoops should be even more determined to extract as much as possible after their Andy Robertson error.
The Liverpool left-back, who was released by the Parkhead club at 15, is now worth a staggering £65 million [CIES, Football Observatory].
It’s safe to say that the 24-year-old has gone on to bigger and better things after being snubbed by the Glasgow giants, and the Scot, who then joined Queen’s Park, admits he was surprised by the decision.
“If you had said probably earlier in the season I would have been surprised. But when Chris McCart came in I was playing centre-midfield the whole season and as he came in I kind of got moved over to left-mid,” he told Open Goal on YouTube.
“I had never played left-mid for Celtic so then the last two months I kind of had a wee incline that I wasn’t maybe for him and it wasn’t going as planned.
“It was probably still a wee bit of a surprise when they told me and when you look back on it the signs were there.”
Celtic couldn’t have known that Robertson would become the Champions League finalist that he is, but you have to assume that missing out on all those millions mean that Peter Lawwell is determined to avoid that mistake with Tierney.
Fortunately, the youngster is contracted to Parkhead until 2023, so if any club comes sniffing then they know that a premium quote awaits.
