Speaking on Soccer AM’s YouTube channel, Andy Robertson has named Fabinho as Liverpool’s Player of the Season so far.
Liverpool have struggled at times this season, but they’ve still had a number of standout performers, but despite Mohamed Salah currently topping the Premier League scoring charts, Robertson believes that Fabinho has been the Reds’ star performer this season.
The Scottish left-back was asked what it’s been like to play alongside Fabinho after he dropped into the centre-back position, to which he replied:
“Yeah, he’s a silent assassin, I think he’s shown his versatility again, I don’t think he’s looked out of place,
“He’s probably been our best performer this season. For me, if you were to give out the awards now, I’d give Fab Player of the Season.”

This is an interesting comment from Robertson.
Usually, you’d say a man with 15 goals in 21 Premier League games would be the runaway Player of the Season, but he’s opted for Fabinho over Salah.
We can understand why though, the Brazilian has had to step up massively in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, and he’s done a brilliant job of filling in at centre-back.
Yes, it’s not his natural position, but he’s been excellent at filling in and if it weren’t for him, the Reds could have been in a much worse position by now.
Fingers crossed he can keep up this level of performance in the second half of the season as Liverpool try to claw their way back into the title race, starting on Sunday against Manchester City.
