With Andy Robertson reportedly on his way to Tottenham, Liverpool are preparing to respond quickly.

Robertson was once a fixture in Liverpool’s defence but has seen his place taken by Milos Kerkez.

He had hoped to finish his career at Anfield, but circumstances have shifted, and a January departure is now on the cards.

Earlier on Friday, it was reported that Tottenham had made contact about Robertson.

It was also noted that any deal would need to make sense for both the club and the player before moving forward.

But now there are fresh details about what the 31-year-old has said to his club regarding the potential move.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported on X that Robertson has informed Liverpool of his desire for a move to Tottenham.

This could leave Liverpool in a bit of a tight spot when it comes to squad depth for the rest of the season.

Conor Bradley’s season-ending injury has already stretched their defensive options.

And while Joe Gomez has played at left-back in the past, he is currently needed as cover across multiple positions, including right-back and centre-back.

Liverpool plan Kostas Tsimikas recall as Andy Robertson pushes for Tottenham move

Liverpool appear to have a plan lined up if Robertson ends up moving to Spurs.

Jacobs added: “Liverpool set to approach Roma to recall Kostas Tsimikas if Andy Robertson moves to Spurs.

“No formal recall clause in Tsimikas’ loan, but sources close to the player have made it clear he wants to return to LFC.”

Tsimikas joined Liverpool in 2020 from Olympiacos and has since played 115 games for the club.

Despite this, many of those appearances were in cup competitions or as a substitute. The 29-year-old was not a regular starter at Anfield, only featuring consistently when necessitated by injuries.

Since his move to Italy, he has similarly struggled for regular playing time, accumulating only 380 minutes across 11 Serie A appearances.
