Andy Robertson couldn’t stop smirking as he told Sky Sports News (17/09/20 at 2:35 pm) that it would be ‘great’ if Thiago could sign for Liverpool amid rumours this morning, but insisted that he isn’t at Melwood.
Sky Sports have reported that Liverpool have agreed on a fee for Thiago’s services after months and months of speculation linking him to Anfield.
In recent months, the Champions League was Thiago’s canvas, and the technically gifted artist showed the Premier League champions why they should sign him with some magical performances as Bayern became champions of Europe.
Robertson, who has played against the Spanish playmaker on the elite stage, has just said this about the one-time Barcelona man, as those on Merseyside will love his comments.
“When you are at a club like Liverpool, you get linked with players all the time,” Robertson told Sky Sports whilst smirking. “For us, we focus on our squad.
“Nobody is in Melwood in terms of Thiago or any other player now for a new signing. Until something is signed on the dotted line then we don’t listen to rumours.
Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

- UEFA Super Cup

- Premier League

On fans getting excited about Thiago: “If the club are exciting the fans with a potential link or potential rumour that we are going to sign this player then I suppose we are doing something right. I have watched him. He is a fantastic player. A player full of talent. He would add to the quality of squad and probably any team in the world.
“If we get him, great. If we don’t then it is what it is. But we’ll wait and see until it’s confirmed then maybe I can sit down again and talk about his qualities a bit more.”

Liverpool are in need of some flair and creativity in the middle of the park and there’s no doubt that Thiago will provide that in abundance.
Whilst Liverpool’s rivals have been busy during this window, especially Chelsea, they have remained quiet, but not now.
This is a statement of intent to the rest of the league that Klopp wants to win back-to-back titles at Anfield and a signing like this might just strike more fear into their opponent’s eyes.
