Former Leeds United manager Garry Monk is now in charge of Middlesbrough.

Andy Ritchie has suggested to The Yorkshire Evening Post that Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk could be raiding Leeds United for a couple of players.

Monk was appointed the Middlesbrough earlier this summer following his departure from Championship rivals Leeds at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The former Swansea City manager narrowly failed to guide the Whites to a top-six finish in the Championship last season.

Former Leeds striker Ritchie, who is now 56 years of age, has suggested that Monk could try to sign a couple of Leeds players for Middlesbrough.

“It depends on what does happen between now and the start of the season with maybe players going out,” Ritchie told The Yorkshire Evening Post regarding Leeds’s chances of getting promoted next season.

“I’ve heard that Garry might be trying to raid Leeds and get a couple of players in and it depends what happens on that front.”

Middlesbrough have been linked with a move for Kyle Bartley in the summer transfer window.

Monk worked with the 26-year-old central defender at Leeds last season, and The Northern Echo has claimed that the Boro boss wants the Englishman, who has returned to his parent club Swansea City after a season-long loan spell at Elland Road.

According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 59, June 18, 2017), Boro want to sign left-back Charlie Taylor, who is leaving Leeds at the end of the month when his current contract with the West Yorkshire outfit runs out (click here to read more). The same report also mentioned Leeds striker Chris Wood.
