The former Forest midfielder retired from the game in the summer.

Former Nottingham Forest player Andy Reid has been commenting on the current state of affairs at the City Ground. Forest are a club in turmoil of late. An American takeover collapsed last week, whilst Philippe Montanier has now been sacked as head coach. Amid it all the club have also seen their star player Henri Lansbury linked with a move away from the club.

The midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa, Norwich City and Watford – with bitter rivals Derby County also keen.

Reid admitted to 888sport that losing Lansbury would be bad news for the club, but cannot see him heading to Derby:

“He is one of Forest’s best players – if not the best player – so losing Henri Lansbury would be a big blow and if it was to Derby it would be even worse.

“I don’t think he would go there and I’m not too sure the club would sell him to their local rivals.”

“It will be interesting to see who is still there in January and they have to hold on to their quality players. If they do that they’ll be okay.”

He went on to discuss the management situation at the club. Reid wonders just who is going to be willing to take on the Forest job at present, given the recent issues at the City Ground:

“Who would want to take on the job? With the takeover fallen through the club is in limbo so who could they convince to come there?

“At the moment the team is in good hands with Gary Brazil looking after them. I know that Jack Lester has been mentioned for the job from within the club and that wouldn’t be a bad idea for the time being.”

Forest have been going through managers at a rate of knots in recent years and results on the pitch have not been helped.

Reid, who retired after serious injury problems in July, is clearly sad to see his former club fading away in such a manner.

But hopefully they can get through January unscathed and kick on in the second part of the season.
