Leeds United have parted company with Andy Lonergan.

As announced on Leeds’s official website, Lonergan has left the West Yorkshire outfit by mutual consent.
The 34-year-old retuned to Elland Road in the summer of 2017 for his second spell at the Whites, having played for the former Premier League club in 2011-12.

The former Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper was able to make only seven appearances in the Championship last season.
The goalkeeper also made one appearance each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup for the Whites during the 2017-18 campaign.

Lonergan told Leeds’s official website following his departure from Elland Road: “I really enjoyed being back at Leeds United again and I’d like to thank all of the staff and players I’ve worked with every day.
“The biggest thank you must go to the supporters though and I wish the club the best of luck for next season.”

No huge loss
Lonergan is a good goalkeeper, but the former Wolves man was always going to find it hard to establish himself as a regular for the Whites.
The departure of the 34-year-old goalkeeper is not a big deal for Leeds, as the Championship club have a potential superstar of the future in Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who played well for the Whites in the final weeks of last season.
