Andy King has joined Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers on loan from Leicester City.
Martyn Waghorn at Rangers
As announced on Rangers’ official website last week, King has joined Steven Gerrard’s side on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Leicester.
The 30-year-old Wales international knows former Rangers striker Waghorn from their time together at Leicester and Derby.
Waghorn was on the books of Rangers from 2015 until 2017 before he joined Ipswich Town for a transfer fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £1m.
The former England Under-21 international forward moved to Derby from Ipswich in 2018, and last month, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard told The Scottish Sun that the 29-year-old is worth £9m.
King told The Herald about Waghorn: “I am good friends with Martyn Waghorn and I played with him for a couple of years, so he told me what a great atmosphere it was.”
The midfielder added: “When I heard about the interest, I messaged him straight away and asked what I could expect and he only had good things to say, real positive things.”

Good signing for Rangers?
Rangers do have a lot of midfielders, and many will think that signing King was unnecessary.
However, there is no doubt over the quality of the Welshman, who will enhance the quality of Rangers in the middle of the park.
