Andy Johnson praises Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Speaking to Everton’s official website, Andy Johnson has praised the ‘horrible and nasty’ Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 20-year-old striker is enjoying a very decent breakthrough season at Everton following his £1.5 million move from Sheffield United 18 months ago.
Calvert-Lewin has netted six goals and bagged four assists in 16 starts for the Toffees and looks to be really coming to life under new manager Sam Allardyce.
The youngster has plenty of ability, but Johnson has suggested that his personality and willingness to make things ugly is one of the things that has impressed him most about him.
“I really like Dominic,” he told Everton’s official website.
“I think he’s fantastic. For such a young lad to take on that responsibility with the team being in a difficult situation like it was, I think he’s done fantastic.
“He gets up, he’s horrible, he’s nasty, he wins the ball. For his age and the way he affects the game I think he’s fantastic.”
Calvert-Lewin has developed into a first-team regular under Allardyce and he seems like a real talent.
Crucially, he is one of the few Everton lads with pace to split defences and that’s been a big part of his success on Merseyside so far.
