Former Sheffield Wednesday defender Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports that Wolverhampton Wanderers will finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Wolves have started the season strongly and are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

The Wanderers are currently at the top of the league table with 26 points from 12 matches, two points above second-placed Cardiff City.

Former Wednesday and Everton left-back Hinchcliffe has predicted Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to clinch a playoff spot in the Championship this season.

“There’s no real aspect of Wolves’ play that you would worry about, so they are guaranteed to finish in the top six,” Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports.

Wolves have been the best team in the Championship this season and are playing wonderful football.

The Wanderers made a number of signings in the summer transfer window, but it seems that the team have gelled together already.

It is still quite early in the season and anything could happen, but it does seem likely that Nuno’s side will end up in the playoffs in 2017-18.

Wolves will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Preston North End at home in the Championship.
