Leeds United, Aston Villa, Norwich City and Sheffield United all are aiming for promotion to the Premier League.

Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports that Leeds United and Aston Villa will face each other in the Championship playoff final this season.

The former Sheffield Wednesday left-back has also backed Norwich City and Sheffield United to win the two automatic promotion places.

Hinchcliffe believes that Villa will get the better of Leeds in the playoff final and clinch promotion to the Premier League for the 2019-20.

Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports: “Derby will take the final spot but Aston Villa will play Leeds in the final and win.”

Regarding automatic promotion, the Sky Sports pundit added: “1st) Norwich, 2nd) Sheff Utd. Norwich are deserved title winners. I think Sheffield United have recovered well and with the games they have left I think they have enough.”

Promotion race

Norwich look set to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, and it is hard to see the Canaries slip up.

The battle for the second automatic promotion spot is between Sheffield United and Leeds, and there is a very good chance that it will go down to the wire.

Villa are also in the running for promotion to the top flight of English football, but only via the playoffs.

The Villans are in a great run of form at the moment, and that will help them in the playoffs – if they get there.

West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City, Derby County, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest are also among the playoffs hopefuls, and it is not easy to predict right now which four teams will finish below the top two.
