Mark Warburton has brought a number of new faces to Ibrox and competition for places is high.
Andy Halliday has warned the rest of the Rangers squad that he has no intention of giving up his first-team place lightly, in an interview with the club’s official website.
Rangers have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window so far with manager Mark Warburton bringing nine new faces to Ibrox.
Several of those additions have been in midfield, with the likes of Jordan Rossiter, Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar all making the move to Scotland.
That leaves Warburton with a big selection headache next season as he still tries to work out his best starting XI.
One man who could miss out is Halliday, but he insists he has no intention of giving up his place lightly.
“Good players welcome good players, and all these good players we have brought in will help us strive to our one goal,” he told the club’s official website.
“Nobody should write me off though as I won’t be giving up my place lightly, and when you play for this football club, you need to earn the jersey, and someone has to try and take it from me.”
It will certainly be interesting to see what line up Warburton looks to go with next season.
He has certainly given himself a plethora of options with his busy summer so far, which is an ideal situation for him if Rangers are to challenge Celtic for the title.
Barton and Kranjcar are expected to be first choice, but Halliday appears to be keen on proving a point and it should make for an interesting battle for places in the weeks and months to come.
