Rangers want Jamie Walker and Hearts need a replacement winger – enter outcast Andy Halliday.
Rangers’ Andy Halliday started 24 league games last season
Though Andy Halliday’s two year spell at Rangers has left a lot to be desired, the 25-year-old should still be in high demand this summer as he prepares to let go of his Ibrox dream.
The Scottish Sun claim that Halliday, a die-hard Rangers supporter, has been told by manager Pedro Caixinha that he is surplus to requirements ahead of next season and will be allowed to leave on loan this summer.
The Portuguese tactician has been rather ruthless in his approach this summer with out-of-favour trio Rob Kiernan, Michael O’Halloran and Harry Forrester all informed of their futures in similarly brutal fashion.
As such, the report adds that Halliday will be forced to train with the club’s Under-20s until he packs his bags and heads for the exit. Though perhaps Rangers could use the situation to their advantage.
Halliday, who’s fine form for Livingston between 2008 and 2010 earned him a marquee move to Middlesbrough, would still be a decent addition for a number of sides looking for a hard-working winger with an eye for goal.

That is something Hearts could certainly do with, especially as the Daily Record claim they are resigned to losing star man Jamie Walker.
Two birds, one stone
The 23-year-old, who plundered 15 goals last season, is a primary target for Rangers this summer and the Daily Record reports that the club have already had two bids rejected by Hearts. The Edinburgh giants are demanding £1 million for their prized asset while Rangers, so far, have offered just over half that.

However, allowing Halliday to go in the other direction could benefit all parties. Rangers could swap an unwanted player for one of Caixinha’s desired additions.
And Hearts could be handed a readymade replacement.
