Rangers have seen Andy Halliday step up under Steven Gerrard.

Rangers picked up another 5-0 win on Sunday, hammering Hamilton Academical just days after dismantling Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup.
Even without Alfredo Morelos, Rangers were in clinical form against the Accies, with Steven Gerrard no doubt delighted with 10 goals in the last two games.
Gerrard has plenty of competition for places across the pitch, and one player is making himself virtually undroppable at the moment; Andy Halliday.
The 27-year-old’s Rangers career appeared to be coming to an end under Pedro Caixinha having been loaned out to Azerbaijani side Gabala, and then with the influx of a host of midfielders under Gerrard.
However, boyhood Rangers fan Halliday has not only saved himself under Gerrard, but become one of his most trusted players at left back, rather than in midfield.
In fact, Halliday should now be considered as Rangers’ first-choice left back after another strong showing against Hamilton on Sunday, just days after scoring inside three minutes of his introduction against Kilmarnock.

Halliday’s passion and tenacity has made him a favourite at Ibrox, but he’s also bringing real quality from the left back position, which Borna Barisic simply hasn’t provided of late.
It’s hard to relegate a £2.2million (BBC) signing in Barisic, but the Croatian simply hasn’t lived up to expectations after a strong start, with his recent performances showing his lack of confidence.
In the long term, Barisic should still be the left back Rangers look to use prominently, but right now, Halliday is offering much more than he is – and Gerrard should forget the price tags, and go with a player Rangers signed for nothing four years ago as his first-choice left back for the rest of the season.
