Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor saved a penalty in Europa League tie.

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor was the hero as Steven Gerrard’s side won in Slovenia.
McGregor saved a penalty against Maribor to ensure Rangers earned a 0-0 draw, booking their place in the next round of the Europa League qualifiers.
Teammate Andy Halliday was impressive, praising McGregor’s display.
Halliday had lined up in an unfamiliar left-back role as both Borna Barisic (cup tied) and Jon Flanagan (suspended) were unavailable.

He told Rangers’ official website: “What a goalkeeper too. His save before the penalty was great. The thing is with Greegsy, he might not get called on a lot in games but when he does he makes those big saves.
“I said to him after that I genuinely did fancy him to save the penalty but he was laughing and saying everyone says that.
“But I did, I fancied him to save it and he came up big for us.”
Halliday added that the other three defenders he played with, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and James Tavernier were ‘superb’ as they earned a clean sheet.
Rangers have now made their way through three rounds of the Europa League qualifiers, after being eliminated in the first by Progres Niederkorn last year.
