Former Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton left Ibrox in February, and Andy Halliday has praised the job he did.

Andy Halliday has spoken out and praised the job that Mark Warburton did during his time with Rangers and suggested that the players were in the dark regarding his departure from Ibrox, Sky Sports reports.
Warburton was in charge of the Gers for just over a season and a half. And while he was the manager who guided them to the Scottish Premiership by winning the Championship title, as well as an Old Firm win in the Scottish Cup last term, their campaign in the top flight has been a lot more disappointing.
The Light Blues found themselves well adrift of Celtic in the top flight and had a fight on their hands in the race for second when Warburton’s departure was announced in early February.
And while the news was met with a fairly positive reaction amongst the frustrated Gers fans, Halliday has suggested that Warburton deserves a lot of credit.
Former Rangers manager Mark Warburton
“I will take this time to obviously praise Mark because I’ve not had a chance myself personally to talk about it but clearly we had some unconvincing performances, some inconsistent results and the previous manager left in uncertain circumstances,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“The players never really knew what was happening and I’d like to just take this time to say Mark did a fantastic job. He came in and he got us all together.”

Although Warburton achieved the objection in his first season and topped that off with a win over the Hoops, there had arguably been little for the supporters to cheer about since, with Rangers’ transfer business last summer allowing Celtic to increase a gap that the Gers had the opportunity to close further.
Had they got their signings right in the summer, they may have perhaps been able to put pressure on their bitter rivals. But because the two sides enjoyed vastly contrasting windows, the gap grew, making Warburton’s successor’s job even harder.
