Andy Halliday has told Rangers’ official website that Niko Kranjcar was “different class” in Tuesday night’s win over Queen of the South.

Rangers eased into the semi-final of the League Cup by smashing the Championship outfit 5-0 at Ibrox last night.

Martyn Waghorn added a second-half hat-trick to complete the scoring after efforts from Jason Holt and Halliday, the Gers’ captain on the night.

Of course, Waghorn, who has eight goals in seven games now, won the post-match headlines, but Halliday has reserved praise for ex-Croatia international Krajncar.

“You can see Niko with his quality, he’s came in and he’s played a big part in the 90 minutes,” he told Rangers’ website.

“I thought he was different class so we’ve certainly got a very good squad that fill in these positions.”

It has been a testing couple of weeks for Rangers and they need figures like Kranjcar to come to the fore a little more often.

Given his experience, the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker was perhaps Mark Warburton’s biggest signing in terms of profile and achievement within football, but the 31-year-old has not set the Premiership alight as of yet.

Of course, it’s still very early, and there’s plenty of time for him to leave a big mark on the Ibrox club, but time waits for no man. Sunday’s visit to Pittodrie would be a good start for Kranjcar.
