Morelos was linked with a move from Rangers to OGC Nice and Galatasaray.
Andy Halliday has been quoted by the Daily Express as applauding Rangers’ decision to keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox – rather than accepting a big-money offer for the Colombian.
Morelos, 22, was the subject of reported interest from both French club OGC Nice and Turkish side Galatasaray during the January transfer window – but he has remained at Rangers.
The Daily Record claimed Patrick Vieira’s Nice had tabled a fee of £8million for the Colombia international, after Mario Balotelli left the club to join Olympique de Marseille. Turkish outlet Fotospor claimed Gala made a bid earlier this week.
Rangers teammate Halliday was delighted to see Morelos remain at the club beyond the end of the January transfer window, and stated he has been the best player in Scotland this season.
“He has been the best player in the country this season, so you don’t want to lose him. It is as simple as that,” Halliday said.
Morelos has clocked up 36 league and cup appearances for Rangers this season, having a hand in 31 goals. He has scored 21 times, and created 10 himself.
The Colombian still remains a source of controversy and criticism, with his lack of discipline coming into question. He has been booked 12 times and shown a red card on three occasions this season.
He is likely to return to the starting line-up on Saturday afternoon as Rangers play host to Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren at Ibrox, after watching the entire 3-1 win over Cowdenbeath from the bench.
