Rangers and Celtic will renew their rivalry in the Scottish Premiership next season.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Andy Halliday has warned Celtic that this is the ‘most confident’ he has felt going into a season with Rangers as he stated that the Scottish Premiership champions are ‘still favourites’ for the title.

The Old Firm duo will renew their rivalry once again next season, with Steven Gerrard hoping to stop the Bhoys from winning a ninth straight Premiership crown.

The summer transfer window is underway and both teams are making changes to their squad. Rangers have already returned to pre-season as they prepare for Europa League qualifiers.

Speaking ahead of the new season, Halliday warned Celtic that he is feeling something at Rangers that he’s never felt before as a player.

“Celtic are still favourites for the title,” said Halliday, as quoted by the Evening Times. “They won the league again last year and had a bit of a cushion. But I can only speak from a Rangers player’s point of view and say it’s the most confident I’ve been going into a season.

“We improved last year and with the signings we’ve made so far, we’re already improving the squad. I also know first hand that we’ve got the right man in the manager’s job and the right backroom staff to make a title challenge. I can’t speak for Celtic because I’m not in their changing room every day.”

The confidence from Halliday perhaps stems from Rangers’ wins against Celtic at Ibrox last season, especially the final Old Firm game of the campaign when Neil Lennon’s side already had the title wrapped up.

But the aura Gerrard has brought to Ibrox and the style of play on the pitch has seemingly got the Gers faithful dreaming that they can win the title next season.

Neil Lennon will be in the other dugout next season as he will be looking to continue Celtic’s recent dominance in Scottish football.
