The legendary Scot says Spurs will beat the Red Devils.
Andy Gray has written on his blog for Paddy Power.com that he believes Tottenham Hotspur will beat Manchester United in Sunday’s massive Premier League clash at White Hart Lane.
The North Londoners welcome the Red Devils to their place tomorrow evening as Mauricio Pochettino’s men look to stay within touching distance of leaders Leicester City who, at the moment, boast a seven-point cushion.
Spurs could potentially be 10 points behind the Foxes by the time they kick off against United, with Leicester facing relegation-threatened Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the day’s earlier game.
The omens favour Louis van Gaal’s side, with the Lilywhites beating United just five times in the entire history of the Premier League, but Gray feels that the balance of power is shifting and expects to see a home win tomorrow – and suggests defensive midfielder Eric Dier could get on the scoresheet.
“Against Manchester United historically they don’t usually do very well but this is a different Spurs side. I think they’re better than United by quite some distance,” he wrote on Paddy Power.com.
“They have better players, they’re a better team and they have better idea of what they’re trying to do than United. Although United will really make life difficult I really fancy Spurs strongly this weekend to beat United.
“The obvious choice for first goalscorer is of course Harry Kane but if you fancy a bit more of a punt then take a look at someone like Eric Dier who offers a physical threat from set-pieces or maybe Christian Eriksen who can hit a pretty mean free-kick.”
Spurs can’t forget about Arsenal, who will move one point behind them – with a game in hand – if they beat West Ham United this afternoon.
Failing to win the Premier League would hurt, but finishing behind their North London rivals would be a major kick in the ribs, though Pochettino and co have it in their own hands.
