Andy Gray has told BeIN Sports that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to reduce the gap in the race for the Premier League title over the next three games – and reckons they are in with a chance of winning the league.

Spurs were in excellent form on Sunday evening as they took advantage of an error-strewn Everton defence by smashing The Toffees 6-2 at Goodison Park, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both grabbing a brace.

The win sees Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit just two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side, and six behind league leaders Liverpool. The top two go face to face on January 3 at The Etihad.

Meanwhile, Spurs face Bournemouth and Wolves at Wembley and then a trip to Cardiff City over the Christmas period, in a run of games Pochettino will be hoping to pick up nine points from. Gray discussed Spurs’ title chances.

“42 points, two points off Manchester City. Are City in the title race? Then you’ve answered that question [if Spurs are in the title race],” Gray said. “Of course they are, it’s the best start they’ve ever had.

“Bournemouth, Wolves, Cardiff are the next three games. Without being presumptuous, they should win nine points. The day they play Cardiff, two days later, City face Liverpool – and something will have to give.

“They play on January 1 against Cardiff, and City and Liverpool do not play until the third. That will put massive pressure on the top two, it’s all they can do.”

Spurs have won 11 of their last 13 games, only losing to Arsenal in the league 4-2 and securing an excellent 1-1 draw against Barcelona that saw them qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

They also remain in the Carabao Cup after beating the Gunners in the quarter finals, with Chelsea to play over a two-legged semi-final. Pochettino’s side look desperate to end the ‘no-trophy’ label.

Tottenham play host to Bournemouth on Boxing Day, before Wolves visit Wembley three days later.
