Andy Gray has hit back at Roy Keane’s comments about Tottenham striker Harry Kane by claiming that he cannot find any reason why he would want to join Manchester United.

Premier League legend Keane urged his former club to secure the services of Spurs hitman Kane as United struggle to produce the goods in the final third.

Kane has been one of the best strikers in England’s top-flight for a number of seasons now and he is arguably the best number nine in the world right now.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Gray issued a quite honest answer to Keane’s previous comments as he made a quite controversial trophy claim.

“If I am Harry Kane, I am playing for Tottenham, who finished in the top-four,” Gray told beIN Sports. “Did Manchester United? No. ‘We are in a beautiful new ground. Probably the best ground in the country’. Old Trafford? It needs some work done on it.

“Players, ‘we have got better players at the moment. Where am I playing? Oh, London. I love London’. Why would Harry Kane leave Tottenham to go to Manchester? And I mean that with the greatest respect to Manchester United. Why? Why? Where has he more of a chance of winning something right now? Tottenham!

“When I heard Roy say that I just thought, he’s thinking of his days, when he [Kane] would have walked there [to Manchester United]. ‘Mauricio, sorry Manchester United want me I’m off because they’re winning everything’. But now?! Now?! No. He’s not going anywhere! If Kane leaves Tottenham, he’s either going to Real Madrid or somebody else. Nobody else.”

Even though Spurs have been struggling since the start of the season, they still find themselves above United, who have been slipping further down the table game by game.

But on Sunday, if United beat Norwich and Spurs lose at Liverpool then the Manchester club will move above the North London outfit in the table.

Either way, in years gone by, a move to Old Trafford for any top striker would have been a pretty easy decision for that player, but with their recent troubles and no Champions League football, that choice of making that move isn’t so easy now.
